CPR Certification Class

Medication Aid Class
Note: This class requires you to bring an $18 money order. This is due at the start of the class. You can leave the money order blank and it’ll be filled out in class.
Medication Aide course for individuals initiating or renewing a Nebraska Medication Aide certification. Upon completion of this course level, the individual will be knowledgeable of the 10 competencies and the basic routes outlined on Medication Aide (ne.gov). This level certification allows medication aides to work in settings other than nursing homes, assisted living facilities and intermediate care facilities for the developmentally disabled.

This training aims to empower professionals/homecare providers with a systematic way to teach new skills and/or replacement skills by using a systematic approach.

Probation 101
Join Julie Smith from the Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation for her training Probation 101. This training provides essential insights into the probation process for youth in foster care, focusing on legal rights, expectations, and responsibilities. The class covers the role of probation officers, strategies for supporting youth during probation, and how foster families can effectively collaborate with the legal system. Participants will leave equipped with practical tools to foster positive outcomes for children navigating probation

Casa 101
Join Katelynn Wilee from Casa for Douglas County for her training Casa 101. CASA 101 training introduces foster care families to the role and responsibilities of a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in supporting children's welfare. This session covers the advocacy process, key legal concepts, and effective communication techniques to collaborate with social workers and the court system. Participants will gain valuable insights into how they can contribute to the best interests of children in foster care and support CASA volunteers.

Psychological Disorders: Diagnoses and Treatment

training will outline the common diagnoses (ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, ASD, DMDD, etc.) in youths including symptoms, criteria to diagnose, co-occurring diagnoses, and treatment and strategies to help diagnosed children. The trainer will briefly discuss medications that are usually diagnosed for the disorders.

Online Safety

This training will review online safety, as youths are online a significant period of time daily and they are vulnerable online. The training will outline the concerns and dangers of being online and how foster parents should be cognizant of that and involved in the youths’ online activity.

Understanding Poverty

This training will cover the broad span of the culture and cycle of poverty, including the types of poverty, the characteristics and hidden rules of poverty, and the effect that poverty has on children. The barriers to moving out of poverty will also be discussed and what is needed to help break these barriers.
Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resiliency after Trauma

This training will review what ACE’s are and how they came to be, how ACE’s and trauma affect health including short-term and long-term effects, and how to counteract and build resiliency. The trainer will also provide many resources and strategies for purpose of building resiliency and for trauma-informed care after defining what resiliency is, what impacts resiliency, and how it is built. Lastly, the trainer will discuss the potential trauma that foster care can have on children and the importance of preventing future trauma.
Human Trafficking

This training outlines what human trafficking is, how to identify when trafficking is occurring, and attempts to prevent trafficking. This training is extremely important as Omaha is one of the cities with a higher risk of trafficking.
